A recent announcement by one of the nation’s leading internet companies will see a service being offered that will allow those with wired internet and phone connections to have both options be wireless. The company, AT&T is now offering the service in at least 5 states. And the device is essentially a modem which relies on the company’s existing HSPA and LTE networks to deliver the wireless connection. The modem is no-cost when customers agree to a contract spanning two years. The goal for the company is to eventually offer the service in all locations across the United States.
In addition to being able to get wireless connectivity in the home, customers can also add any of their mobile devices to the service for $30 per month. They will also get unlimited calling nationwide and 10GB of shared data. This latest offering follows one by another of the popular wireless internet providers last year. However, this offering only supported data connections instead of both voice and data, and didn’t offer the option for voice calling. In addition to offering customers more flexibility with their connection, AT&T’s new product will allow the company to expand its customer area.
